This truly amazing FM24 throwback database was initially planned for Football Manager 2025 but with its delay and the wonderful help from MrTini23 the FM24 1994/95 retro database became a reality.
The Football Manager 2024 1994/95 retro database enables you to head back in time and re-discover all the past football legends and former wonderkids from Championship Manager days in FM24!
The 1994/95 database for Football Manager 2024 is partially based on different versions of CM incl. Championship Manager 2 edition, where he has done the meticulous work of transferring over all the players and squads from CM into FM24 – meaning you will be able to experience the exact leagues, squads and player skills as they were, in 1994/95 on Football Manager 2024. This includes copying all the player attributes, CAs and PAs manually from CM to FM24, so you have the chance to manage all the legends and wonderkids from that time, in the modern Football Manager match engine.
This retro database takes place at a time where most of us FM Veterans have wonderful memories from. Enabling you to kick off your Football Manager career right after Brazil were crowned World Cup winners for the fourth time after playing some facinating football led by Romario, Bebeto and Dunga in USA 94, the following 1994-95 season is carved in our memories!
The 1994-95 season was the third consecutive season of the English Premier League as we now know it. In the previous season, Alex Ferguson had managed to steer Manchester United to their first ever PL title featuring legends like Ryan Giggs, Eric Cantona and Roy Keane and for 1994-95 season they would receive fierce competition from both newly promoted Nottingham Forest and Kenny Dalglish’s Blackburn Rovers over the Premier League title.
Even though the Premier League 1994/95 season featured a number of key events and future football legends, there were lots of classic football icons still making their marking in Europe.
With one of the best squads ever, Ajax and AC Milan would knock heads in the Champions League 1994/95 final where superstars such as Clarence Seedorf, Edgar Davids, Marc Overmars, Frank Rijkaard, Jari Litmanen and Frank de Boer was up against Paolo Maldini, Marcel Desailly, Franco Baresi, Alessandro Costacurta and Marco Simone.
However, the legendary AC Milan squad also featured stars like Ruud Gullit and Marco van Basten. As you might remember the 18 year old wonderkid Justin Kluivert would be the decisive factor to take home the Champions League trophy to Amsterdam.
Another wonderkid you’ll experience in 1994 was 16 year old French Wonderkid named Thierry Henry at Monaco – one would become one of my future favorite players, or 20 year-old Fabio Cannavaro at Napoli. In the Spanish capital a 17-year old wonderkid named Raul was emerging, while Ronaldo 9 (17yo) was starting to make a name for himself at PSV!
In fact, in 1994 the number of football icons in their prime was surreal! You had a 25 year-old- Dennis Bergkamp playing for Inter Milan, Roberto Baggio (27) at Juventus, Gearge Weah (27) at Paris Saint-Germain, John Barnes at Liverpool, or Roberto Mancini at Sampdoria. And, not let us forget Barcelona’s “Maradona of the Carpathians“, the sensational playmaker; Gheorge Hagi!
Talking about Maradona, who can forget the shock when he failed the drug test in the middle of the World Cup 1994 in USA and was sent home after just 173 minutes of action.
Tottenham splashed the cash to sign 29-year-old Jürgen Klinsmann – who would go on to win the PFA Football Writers Association’s Footballer of the Year after scoring incredible 21 goals over 30 appearances in his PL debut season!
As you’ll might have experienced, the period around the 1994-95 season might be one of the most historic periods ever! However, now it’s all up to you to re-produce the feat or write your own story as you head back to the glorious 1994-95 season on Football Manager 2024!
